JoDean Skaar works for Tacoma Power. Her background includes two years in the banking industry. When the institution she was working for was going under, she decided to make a career change. After attending the Low Voltage Fire Security program at Clover Park Technical College, she became a trainee at Tacoma Power and then 10 months later she was accepted into the Apprenticeship program. JoDean says, "I have been at Tacoma Power for six years and have accomplished my goal of having a career, supporting my family, and living the life I could only once dream about."
Rebekah Strub is a Meter Apprentice. Previously, she has been in the medical and dental fields as well as a laborer on public works projects prior to landing in the job she loves at Tacoma Power. She says, "The best thing about being an apprentice is I am paid to learn a new career." The entire apprenticeship program is 3 ½ years. She will complete her apprenticeship in February 2014.
